Celebrity chef Angela May’s very first restaurant, Angela May Food Chapters, is set to entice shoppers and foodies alike with her unique take on contemporary cuisine. With its strong focus on vegetables, we speak to the multi-talented host, actress, and chef as she writes a new page in her culinary journey.

What was your biggest challenge in setting up the restaurant?

Angela: Having my hand in everything. I really wanted guests to feel like they’re being pampered when they come, not only with the food and pastries, but also with the décor and our amazingly comfortable chairs.

What sort of cuisine can we expect?

Angela: Contemporary cuisine with touches of Asian influence

Your top 3 picks from the menu?

Angela: That is such a difficult question as I love everything! But if I’d have to count off three it would be

  • Spiced Minted Sugar Snap Pea Salad with House Made Tofu
  • Caramelized Cauliflower Steak with Parsley & Cilantro Relish and Red Pepper Puree 
  • Charred Kurobuta Pork Collar with Mint Pomelo Salad over a White Bean Puree

Why the strong focus on vegetables?

Angela: There are some great farms in Singapore growing very clean fresh vegetables, which I can get on the plate within hours. That translates directly into a delicious dish.

Inspiration behind the name of your restaurant?

Angela: This is a new chapter in my life, with many more to follow.


Why should customers visit the restaurant?

Angela: It’s beautiful! It’s such a great spot on the second floor of Robinsons The Heeren with huge floor-to-ceiling windows, and the best view overlooking looking the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road. All the furniture is custom hand-made for the restaurant and of course we serve everything from breakfast to high tea to dinner and fresh pastries. It the perfect spot to gather your strength during a shopping spree!


What’s your favourite Singaporean dish, and why?

Angela: Laksa! I love laksa. I love the rich coconut broth with tons of laksa leaves and I always have it with charcoal grilled otah!

Favourite brand to shop at Robinsons and why?

Angela: There are so many here that I love! If I had to choose it would be Elizabeth and James. I love that relaxed feminine yet slightly intentional masculine style.
