This Father’s Day at Robinsons, our staff participated in an outfit swap challenge aimed at fostering closer familial bonding.

Working in retail is especially tough for our frontline staff because of the irregular hours. Therefore, we decided to bring the family to the workplace. We asked the sons of our staff if they knew what their fathers did at Robinsons. And we invited them down to join their dads for a day of fun-filled activities! At Robinsons, family is everything. We talked to some of the sons whose fathers work Robinsons, and they shared some heartfelt stories about their dads. Read on to find out more about these admirable dads!

Father-Son Pair 1 – Remy Ramli and Son

What was the biggest challenge you faced in which your dad helped you pull through?

I broke my leg when I was 13 years old and was in a cast and crutches. My dad selflessly helped me every single day with my daily routine. He even picked me to and from my guitar lessons, and made it a point to bring me out for meals. He did this because he didn’t want me to feel trapped at home. He went above and beyond to care for me.

What is the best advice that your dad ever gave you?

“No matter how good you are, always be humble.”

What do you know of your dad’s role in Robinsons?

I know that my dad is part of the visual merchandising department. His job scope is to conceptualise the store layout in accordance to theme or seasons. I think he can be credited for the intricate window displays and elaborate holiday decorations, which sets Robinsons apart from other department stores. When I was younger, I used to think all he did at work was just dressing up the mannequins.

What would you like to say to your father this Father’s Day?
Firstly, I want to wish my dad a very happy Father’s Day. I also want to thank him for the endless support that he has given me towards my passion in music. Not many parents are so supportive of their children. So thank you for believing in me, and Happy Father’s day.

After my tertiary studies, I was confused and didn’t know what I wanted out from life. And I felt myself drifting towards a dark path. My dad realised this, and reached out to me. It was because of his guidance at that pivotal moment that helped me find my true calling.
